Prosecutor candidates say small cases can have big impact

The race for a city prosecutor is a tricky thing.

As opposed to the races for elected positions like a City Council seat or the mayor, there are not many issues on which the candidates for prosecutor take a stance — just the best, most fair way to prosecute the offenders that come before the court.

But that is fine, since that is all on which Renee Godbee and Brian Stumpe are focused.

For Stumpe, the main issue in the race is the climb in violent crime in Jefferson City during the last few years. Stumpe has openly discussed that he, along with several of his friends, was the victim of an attack by an gunman.
