Teen charged with two robberies on LU campus

A Jefferson City teen is in custody in connection with robberies that occurred earlier this month on the Lincoln University campus.

Prosecutors this week charged Latalmadge Baldon, 18, of 208 Pine St., with two counts of first-degree robbery and two counts of armed criminal action.

According to a Lincoln University Police Department probable cause statement, the incident occurred on the night of Aug. 17 in the 800 block of East Atchsion Court.

The male victim said Baldon robbed him at gunpoint, using a .22-caliber revolver, and that Baldon admitted to the crime.

LU police also said Baldon admitted to using a debit card he took from the victim at the Break Time Convenience Store on Clark Avenue.

Another victim said Baldon assisted three men in robbing him at gunpoint, and the LU police statement said Baldon also confessed to participating in that crime.

The probable cause statement noted Baldon already is on unsupervised probation for another Cole County case -- stealing under $500 on Nov. 17, 2009 -- and his confessing to being involved in two robberies involving a gun should show that he poses "a danger to a crime victim, the community or to any other person."

Casenet, the court system's online records service, also showed Baldon was scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday morning on a separate charge of receiving stolen property under $500 in June.

Baldon's bond in the new case was set at $150,000.

No court appearances have been scheduled yet.
