SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) - Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder has launched an inquiry into the care and treatment of ailing Springfield hotel developer John Q. Hammons.
Kinder said in a news release that some of Hammons' friends had notified him of their concerns regarding Hammons' care and his business.
The Springfield News Leader reports that Hammons, who is 91 and a noted Springfield businessman and philanthropist, underwent heart surgery earlier this year.
Kinder said that as the state's "Official Senior Advocate," he takes these reports seriously. He did not detail what the complaints were regarding Hammons' care.
