Meetings set on recreation center proposal

The Jefferson City Parks and Recreation Foundation is holding several focus groups and public meetings to help determine the feasibility of constructing and operating an indoor multipurpose recreation center.

Market research, including a survey sent to 1,500 city residents, will also take place in the upcoming weeks to complete the analysis.

Meetings of targeted focus groups have been scheduled Tuesday at the Washington Park Ice Arena. The groups and times Tuesday are: members of the health and fitness community, 9 a.m.; representatives of the Convention and Visitors Bureau, Chamber of Commerce and schools, 10:30 a.m.; and elected and appointed officials, noon.

Three meetings have been scheduled Wednesday at McClung Indoor Pavilion. The groups and times are: parks and recreation user groups, 4 p.m.; independent sports groups, 5:30 p.m.; and open to the public, 7 p.m.

Two meetings have been scheduled Thursday at McClung Indoor Pavilion. The groups and times are: Young Professionals, 7:30 a.m.; and open to the public, 9 a.m.
