Governors bet on big game

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) - The Missouri-Nebraska game Saturday has more at stake than the inside track to the Big 12 North division title: candy, fishing lures and slabs of beef.

The office of Nebraska Gov. Dave Heineman said Thursday the office of Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon asked whether Heineman wanted to make a friendly wager on the outcome.

Sure, Heineman said.

Heineman's stakes: some choice cuts from retailer Omaha Steaks. Nixon offered up Missouri black and gold candy representing the Tigers' colors, a walnut candy bowl and some fishing lures.

Nixon said he's looking forward to comparing Nebraska beef to Missouri-born Kansas City strip steaks.

Saturday's game in Lincoln is scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m.
