JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) - A former Missouri educator who has been working with the Kansas Department of Education since 2006 is coming back to her home state.
Pamela Coleman has been named deputy commissioner of the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
The former Kansas City, Mo., teacher and principal starts her new post Dec. 6.
Coleman has 30 years of teaching and administration experience in Missouri and has lectured throughout the U.S.
She began her career in 1975 as a teacher in Blue Springs before moving to the Kansas City School District. She serves on several national education boards and policy committees.
In Kansas, Coleman directed teacher education and licensure with the state Education Department.
