Amer Sports makes $65 million Q3 profit

HELSINKI (AP) - Global sports equipment maker Amer Sports Corp., whose brands include Atomic, Salomon and Wilson, has reported a 64 percent increase in third-quarter net profit to 47.4 million ($65 million) on strong sales and cots cuts.

Revenue in July to September grew 14 percent to 467 million from a year earlier, the company said Thursday. Net profit in 2009 was 29 million.

CEO Heikki Takala says profit margins improved in all business sectors as the Finnish company "continued to drive top line growth and profitability."

Amer says it expects revenue to hit 1.7 billion this year - up from 1.5 billion in 2009.

Based in Helsinki, Amer Sports employs some 6,600 people - up from 6,400 a year earlier.
