Vigil planned year after Cape Girardeau killings

PERRYVILLE, Mo. (AP) - Survivors of a slain pregnant woman and her son are planning a candlelight vigil to mark the one-year anniversary of the southeast Missouri shooting deaths.

The observance is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Perryville City Park's pavilion.

It takes place as three people await trial in the Cape Girardeau killings of 30-year-old Jamie Lynn Orman, her 15-year-old son, Derrick, and her unborn child.

Prosecutors allege the suspects plotted to kill John Lawrence, the estranged husband of one of them, and set fire to his home to collect insurance money.

Jamie Lynn Orman shared the house with Lawrence. He was not hurt, but Orman and her son were shot.
