Sisters of St. Francis open new $1M home

SAVANNAH, Mo. (AP) -- After years of work and prayer, the Sisters of St. Francis have a new home in northwest Missouri.

The sisters held a dedication and open house Sunday for the new $1 million provincial house and Mother Pia Ministry Center in Savannah. It replaces a home where the nuns have lived since 1957.

The building includes 10 bedrooms, a four-bedroom infirmary, chaplain's quarters, guest quarters and a chapel. It also includes environmentally friendly features such as solar and geothermal heating.
