Plans in motion for drag racing strip

EOLIA, Mo. (AP) -- A group of investors is hoping to build a quarter-mile drag racing strip in eastern Missouri.

The investors, led by construction company owner Ronnie Moss of Bellflower, hopes to build the $1.5 million just south of Eolia in Lincoln County.

Investor Shawn Richter said the group has a retainer on a 100-acre site. He says the track would accommodate up to 2,000 fans.

The plan has drawn opposition. Tom Fausek, who farms near the site, says he and others are concerned about noise, crowds, property damage and other issues.

The Lincoln County Commission will meet Monday with the Pike County Commission and the Eolia Village Board to discuss the plans with Richter.
