JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) -- A committee that advises Missouri officials on children's issues is studying ways to combat human trafficking.
Missouri House Republican Jeff Grisamore of Lee's Summit calls human trafficking a growing problem in Missouri. He says the study committee will make recommendations to the governor and the Legislature.
Grisamore is serving on the committee along with state and federal prosecutors, law enforcement officials and social service advocates. The panel is part of the Missouri Children's Services Commission.
Grisamore says ideas to be considered include better communication among law enforcement agencies and strengthening penalties for human trafficking.
