ST. LOUIS (AP) -- Saint Louis University researchers are trying to determine the right dosage of flu vaccine for babies and toddlers.
The university is among several sites participating in the study funded by the National Institutes of Health.
Children between the ages of 6 months and 35 months typically get half of a full dosage for flu vaccine. But researchers say there was never a study done to determine if that amount was appropriate.
The study will focus on up to 150 U.S. infants and toddlers, including 25 in St. Louis.
Researchers say the work is important because very young children get the flu more frequently than older children or adults -- with significantly more medical visits and hospitalizations.
