ST. LOUIS (AP) -- A downtown St. Louis night club will close its doors after a prolonged fight over its liquor license and accusations of racial bias.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that Lure nightclub was closing Saturday rather than appeal a judge's ruling last month to its liquor license. The judge found evidence of excessive noise, fighting, loitering and other nuisances.
City leaders said the club was a magnet for bad behavior near a downtown strip of new restaurants, shops and apartments.
Club owners said they were singled out because the club caters to African-Americans, a charge the city denied.
