Blair Oaks youngsters hear about respect from Afghanistan

Blair Oaks teacher Tori Berendzen hosted a Skype visit for a Characterplus assembly at the elementary school Wednesday. Tori’s husband, 1st Lt. Jeremy Berendzen, is stationed in Afghanistan and spoke to students about respect.

It was a Characterplus lesson for some Blair Oaks Elementary School students via Skype.

October's character trait, respect, was second-grade teacher Tori Berendzen's to present to the elementary students in a morning assembly. Upon hearing that she was responsible for the task, an idea instantly came to mind.

"I thought why not have Jeremy talk to the kids about respect," she said.
