In advance of Saturday's football game against Southwest Baptist University, Lincoln University's homecoming pep rally begins at 8 p.m. today in the Dwight T. Reed Stadium.

The rally will include performances by the Lincoln University Marching Musical Storm and the Cheer Squad, and features a 15-minute fireworks show beginning about 8:30 p.m.

The rally could affect the Helias High School homecoming football game against Hannibal in nearby Adkins Stadium in two ways: The fireworks likely will begin during the high school game's third quarter, and no parking will be allowed on the east side of the 1100 block of Lafayette Street through the end of the fireworks display.

The LU rally is free and open to the public.

LU homecoming activities will continue Saturday with the parade at 9:30 a.m.

The parade begins at the corner of Dunklin and Lafayette streets, and advances north on Lafayette to High Street. It moves west on High Street to Jefferson Street and then travels north on Jefferson to Capitol Avenue, where it proceeds east on Capitol to Lafayette and then on Lafayette back to the university.
