Missouri to improve trail at Rock Bridge State Park

Officials are installing new boardwalk and stabilizing a creek bank at a state park in Boone County.

More than 300 feet of boardwalk are being installed on the Devil's Icebox Trail in Rock Bridge Memorial State Park near Columbia. The new boardwalk will connect with stairs built to the existing board walk and cover stone steps that lead to the back of the rock bridge.

The boardwalk project costs $113,000 and is being funded through a federal trails grant and a state sales tax for parks.

Officials also are stabilizing the bank of the creek that flows out of the rock bridge. The boardwalk in front of the rock bridge will be closed for that project.
