Hearing set for area boy accused in double homicide

A hearing is set for next month in mid-Missouri to determine whether a 12-year-old boy will be tried as a juvenile or an adult on charges of killing his mother and stepfather.

The Chief Juvenile Officer in the 26th Judicial Circuit, Tammy L. Walden, says the certification hearing is scheduled for Nov. 17.

The boy is accused of shooting Rachael Duncan and Jaeson Duncan on July 5 in their mobile home in the small Miller County town of Kaiser.

The boy reportedly told neighbors he was being abused by his stepfather. Walden declined to discuss the claims.

The boy is being detained at a facility in Camdenton.

A phone message left late Tuesday afternoon with the public defender's office handling the case was not immediately returned.
