Ballot measure groups report big donations

The campaign committees behind two questions on Missouri's November ballot are both reporting new, seven-figure donations.

A group called Let Voters Decide is promoting a measure that would require voters in St. Louis and Kansas City to approve their cities' earnings taxes every five years. It would also bar other cities from adopting earnings taxes.

Let Voters Decide said Friday it received $3.9 million the previous day from retired businessman Rex Sinquefield, who's the main proponent of the question.

Also Friday, the National Association of Realtors donated more than $1 million to the campaign for a ballot measure to prohibit a transfer tax on sales of real estate.
