Nixon touts interest-free bonds at Missouri school
Tuesday, October 5, 2010
TRENTON, Mo. (AP) -- Gov. Jay Nixon is touting a north-central Missouri school district as one making good use of interest-free bonds from the state for taxpayer-saving improvements.
Nixon's visit to the Trenton R-9 district on Tuesday morning is scheduled to detail the work being funded by $1.6 million in bonds the district received earlier this year from $162 million in available bonds he announced at the time.
Nixon says the bonds are upgrading and expanding school sites, creating jobs and, in Trenton's case, saving district taxpayers roughly $800,000.
Nixon's stop in Trenton will include touring an elementary school where an activity center and several classrooms are being built.
