Missouri revenues up for first quarter of fiscal year

State revenues rose in Missouri for the first quarter of the fiscal year, helped by strong collections in September.

Figures released Monday by the state Office of Administration show net general revenues were up 2.6 percent from July through September compared with the same period a year ago.

In September alone, they rose 9.1 percent, compared with September 2009.

That's a reversal from what Missouri had been experiencing. During the past two fiscal years, revenues declined by about 15 percent.

Some of the biggest increases so far in the 2011 fiscal year have occurred in corporate income taxes. Individual income tax collections were up slightly. Quarterly sales tax collections were still down slightly compared with he previous year.
