Energy conference sets Friday registration deadline

The Missouri Forest Resources Advisory Council is hosting a conference on producing energy from woody biomass, beginning at 8 a.m. Oct. 22 at Runge Nature Center.

Conference objectives are to identify challenges to using wood for energy; to propose sustainable, practical responses to those challenges; and to encourage prompt action to avert unintended consequences while striving for renewable energy and energy independence. It will be aimed toward state legislators, state agencies, resource managers, biomass suppliers, town planners and leaders, electrical utilities and energy project developers.

Cost for the conference is $20, which includes lunch. Registration is due by Oct. 8 and can be made by mail to Conservation Federation of Missouri, Attn: McFRAC Conference, 728 W. Main St., Jefferson City, Mo. 65101 or by credit card to 800-575-2322.
