Ex-tobacco scientist to speak at Fulton campus

A former tobacco company scientist whose story was the basis for a movie is scheduled to speak Tuesday at Westminster College in Fulton.

Victor DeNoble was hired by the Philip Morris Tobacco Co. in the 1980s to develop a safer cigarette and research the effect of nicotine on the brain. His research proved nicotine was addictive and unhealthy.

DeNoble testified before Congress and appeared on the TV programs "60 Minutes" and "Dateline NBC." His story also was the focus of the movie "The Insider."

The speech is scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday on the Westminster campus in Fulton.
