YOUR OPINION: Trap-spay-neuter

Dear Editor:

I have been feeding the cats in Washington Park for over six years. During this time many have been adopted.

With the private trap/spay/ neuter release program, all the cats in the park with the exception of two, have been spayed or neutered. They have also had a rabies vaccination. This is at no cost to the city.

The ultimate goal is for no more dumping of unwanted animals anywhere in the city. When the new shelter is built and more space is available, maybe this practice will stop.

At present, I have "adopting" families ready. We just have to get the "adoptees" available. But for now please do not prohibit me or anyone else from feeding these cats.

Call your city council person with your support for this no cost to the city program before the Monday meeting.
