December sentencing for 2 Missouri men on federal drug charges

ST. LOUIS (AP) -- Two central Missouri men will be sentenced in December on federal drug charges.

The U.S. Attorney's office in St. Louis says 28-year-old Donald Burton and 22-year-old Kyle Newkirk entered guilty pleas earlier to charges related to selling methamphetamine. Both men are from Doolittle.

The Rolla Daily News reports that Newkirk pleaded guilty to one felony count of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute more than 50 grams of methamphetamine. He will be sentenced Dec. 16.

Burton pleaded guilty to the same charge and is scheduled for sentencing Dec. 1.

The charge carries a penalty range of five to 40 years in prison and/or fines up to $2 million.
