Mid-Missouri woman hurt in Cole County crash, then arrested for drugs

A Lake Ozark woman was injured in a one-car accident at 3:45 p.m. Sunday on U.S. 54, east of Old Bass Road in Cole County.

According to the Missouri Highway Patrol report, a 2002 Acura, driven westbound by Deana M. Cowen, 30, traveled off the left side of the road when Cowen fell asleep. The vehicle overcorrected and ran off the right side of the road and overturned.

Cowen was taken to Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City and then transferred to University of Missouri-Columbia Hospital.

She was wearing a seat belt.

At the hospital, authorities did arrest Cowen for felony possession of a controlled substance, approximately 30 oxycontin tablets, according to patrol arrest records.
