Christmas holiday shopping off to good start
Jefferson City retailers — big and small — note larger crowds, strong sales

Optimism seemed to be running high after a busy first weekend of the Christmas holiday shopping season, with Jefferson City area business owners and managers calling the weekend successful.
“Overall, traffic was well,” said Greg Jones, manager of the Kmart store, 2304 Missouri Blvd. “Some of the heavy traffic departments were electronics and toys. And our home department.”
Lisa Montgomery, manager at Target, 735 W. Stadium Blvd., noted: “We had a really great weekend, and for us, the biggest thing was safety and crowd control.
