Mound City wins 3rd straight 8-man football title

ST. LOUIS (AP) - Lucas Schawang scored three touchdowns, rushed for 187 yards and passed for 73 as Mound City won its third straight Missouri eight-man football championship, beating St. Joseph Christian 46-24 on Friday in St. Louis.

In all three of Mound City's wins, the runner-up was St. Joseph Christian (10-2). Mound City (12-1) is 35-2 over the past three seasons.

Mound City led 26-12 at the half and drove 60 yards on the opening drive of the second half to help seal the win. Schawang capped that drive with a 22-yard scoring run.
