Former MU RB wants trial outside Columbia

COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) - Former Missouri running back Derrick Washington is asking for a trial outside Boone County on charges of felony sexual assault.

The one-time Tiger captain filed his request for a venue change earlier this month. He is accused of entering a former Missouri tutor's closed bedroom while visiting her roommate in late June and sexually assaulting the woman in her sleep.

Washington also faces two counts of misdemeanor domestic assault after an ex-girlfriend said he hit her in the face five to 10 times and choked her during a late-night argument.

The senior was kicked off the team as Missouri prepared for its first football game of the season. The university agreed to let him keep his scholarship, but he soon dropped out of school.
