More than 7,100 part of Springfield 5K Run/Walk

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) — More than 7,100 people started their Thanksgiving holiday with a 5K run or walk in Springfield.
The southwest Missouri city’s 16th annual Turkey Trot attracted more than 7,100 people to downtown Springfield.
The attendance set a record for the race, which attracted 6,229 people last year.
The best overall female runner was 19-year-old Josie Wilcox of Springfield, who finished with a time of 18:12. The best overall male runner was 20-year-old Rick Elliott of Springfield, with a finish time of 15:25.
Race organizers say the race had participants from at least 30 states and three other countries.
