Man pleads guilty in punching death

RUSHVILLE, Mo. (AP) - A Rushville man pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the death of a man who he thought had stolen firearms.

Twenty-four-year-old Calvin S. McMillian entered the plea Monday in Buchanan County Circuit Court in the death of Todd A. McDowell.

McMillian told the court that he and 30-year-old Nicky Conner went to McDowell's Rushville home in February because they believed McDowell had stolen several guns. McMillian told the judge the two pushed their way into McDowell's home and punched him several times.

McMillian's attorney says that McDowell was not seriously injured when McMillian left. They say Conner went back into McDowell's home and stabbed him.
