Caroling group schedules performances in Mid-Missouri

The Missourians, a Dickens-style caroling group, begins its 24th year of performing.

The group is led by Suzie Nichols and features 25 singers dressed in Dickens-era costumes, singing Christmas songs from traditional carols to more modern arrangements and all styles of music, including spirituals.

The group will perform five public concerts this season: Dec. 5, Zion Lutheran Church, Bunceton, 2 p.m.; Dec. 5, St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Wardsville, 5 p.m.; Dec. 11, United Church of Christ, California, 7 p.m.; Dec. 12, St. Andrews Catholic Church, Tipton, 4 p.m.; and Dec. 19, Immaculate Conception Church, Jefferson City, 7 p.m.

The a cappella group founded in 1987 sings a concert-style or strolling performance with proceeds from engagements providing more than $70,000 in scholarships to members of the University of Missouri Singers.
