California woman killed in collision

A California woman was killed and a Stover man was seriously hurt after a two-vehicle accident Friday afternoon in Cole County. According to Missouri Highway Patrol reports, the accident occured at 2:49 p.m. at the intersection of eastbound U.S. 50 and Route U near Centertown. Andree Ziehmer, 64, California, failed to stop at a stop sign, crossed the westbound lanes of U.S. 50, attempted to cross the eastbound lanes of 50 and traveled into the path of a dumptruck driven by Brian L. Libbee, Stover. Libbee struck Ziehmer's vehicle on the passenger side. Ziehmer was pronounced dead at St. Mary's Health Center. Libbee was flown to University Hospital in Columbia. His condition was unavailable Friday night. The patrol report shows both drivers were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash.
