More money heading to Jefferson City government
Council approves 15-year surtax repayment settlement
Tuesday, November 16, 2010
Jefferson City will have a little more money in its pockets for the next 15 years after Monday night’s city council meeting.
Despite only being introduced that night to the bill that would agree to a 15-year repayment settlement of inappropriately distributed surtax funds from the Cole County, the Jefferson City council suspended the regular procedure and voted 9-0 to sign the bill into law.
In addition to the approval of the surtax settlement, the city council also heard the first reading on a bill that changes the structure of the part of the city code that deals with vehicles for hire.
