Youths compete in cross country at Jaybird Challenge

Several area youths competed in the Ninth Annual Jaybird Challenge Cross Country Meet on Saturday at Cole County Park.

Kara Beckett set a course record in the girls fourth grade race with a time of 8:19.6. West won the girls fourth- and fifth-grade team title with 69 points. Lawson was second with 83 and Callaway Hills came in third with 164.

On the boys side, East won the team title with 42 points. Moreau Heights was second with 73, while West was third with 77.
