University of Missouri receives grant for elderly program

The University of Missouri has received a $1 million grant for a training project aimed at caring for a growing elderly population.

The grant comes from the Donald W. Reynolds Foundation headquartered in Las Vegas. It will help the university enhance its geriatric medicine offerings with new programs for medical students and resident physicians.

School officials say the programs will emphasize teamwork training and the patientcentered "medical home" model of care, which involves collaboration among multiple providers.

Missouri is one of 10 universities to receive grants in the latest round of funding from the Reynolds Foundation.
