Soldier visits classroom

Sgt. First Class Tracy Peters, Henley, spent part of his Veterans Day reading children's books about the military and about military families to students in kindergarten through second grade at Honey Creek Immanuel Lutheran School.

He read "H is for Honor" and "Hero Dad" during his Thursday visit. He also taught the students how to do Army pushups, to stand at attention and at ease.

Peters toured the Missouri Military History Museum and the Regional Training Site-Maintenance with some of the same children two weeks ago.

He is the battalion supply noncommissioned officer for the Special Troops Battalion of the Joint Forces Headquarters of the Missouri National Guard in Jefferson City.

Peters joined the U.S. Navy in 1988 and served four years active duty before joining the Navy Reserves. He joined the Missouri Army National Guard in 1996 and was deployed to Iraq in 2003.
