Several accidents tie up traffic

Six accidents tied up traffic on westbound U.S. 50/63 between Monroe Street and Eastland Drive on Friday afternoon. According to Jefferson City Police Department reports, the first accident involved three vehicles around 3:20 p.m. at the intersection of 50/63 and Monroe Street.

As officers were moving those vehicles off the road, calls began to come in of additional accidents on 50/63 near Clark Avenue. Between the 1000 and 1300 blocks of 50/63, five other accidents were reported — four involved two vehicles and one involved three vehicles. Of the six accidents, four were classified as non-injury, property damage accidents. Two were classified as minorinjury accidents; the drivers did not request an ambulance. Traffic was backed up until 4:40 p.m. when all lanes were reopened.
