21-year-old charged with firing shots

A 21-year-old Jefferson City man is facing charges in connection with a shots fired incident that occurred late Thursday afternoon.

According to police reports, officers responded about 5:15 p.m. to the 500 block of Ellis Boulevard due to reports of shots fired in that area.

During the investigation, it was determined a person in a specific residence was responsible for firing a weapon. Officers were able to make contact with the suspect and take him into custody without incident and were also able to recover the weapon and spent casings. The weapon was an assaulttype rifle.

The suspect, whose name was not released pending the filing of formal charges, was taken into custody for felony unlawful use of a weapon.

No one was injured as a result of the shots.
