South Callaway students receive academic medals

137 receive gold medals at awards ceremony

MOKANE, Mo. - Cheers echoed Wednesday night in the gym at South Callaway High School. The cheers were not for the South Callaway basketball team, but for 137 students who received gold medals at the 10th annual Outstanding Academic Achievement Awards.

“We are giving out 182 medals to 137 students who earned the advanced rating on testing at the end of last year,” Superintendent Mary Lynn Battles said.

The testing was a combination of MAP testing as well as achievement testing in high school academic courses, such as algebra and geometry.
