Nixon urges more to participate in veteran program

More than 1,000 employers in Missouri are participating in a program designed to help military veterans get jobs.

The Show-Me Heroes program provides a list of open jobs across the state and urges employers to pledge to hire veterans. It was created in January.

Gov. Jay Nixon announced the program during his State of the State speech last year to lawmakers. Nixon says military veterans bring many job skills. He's urging more companies to participate in the hiring program.
