The fun of keeping a small, plastic hoop around your waist is still alive, says a Jefferson City-based group, The Hulagans. They're about 20 women in their 20s who meet to enjoy and teach one another their self-taught tricks and ideas with the hoops.
"Some of us in the group saw some hoopers perform at a music festival and fell in love with it," said Lisa Capestro, one of the members who do most practicing on their own, but come together frequently to take part in fundraisers or simply perform at festivals.
