ATLANTA (AP) - Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane both scored two goals and Viktor Stalberg added the winner in a shootout to help the Chicago Blackhawks snap a two-game slide with a 5-4 victory over the Atlanta Thrashers on Saturday night.
The Thrashers have lost two straight overall and four of five at home.
Atlanta defenseman Dustin Byfuglien, who faced Chicago for the first time since being traded by the defending Stanley Cup champions, was stopped on the Thrashers' last shootout attempt when Marty Turco reached out and poked the puck away with his stick.
Turco stopped 33 shots to win for the first time in three starts and improve to 7-4-1.
Blues 2, Bruins 1, SO
BOSTON (AP) - Jaroslav Halak made 33 saves through overtime and two more in the shootout to lead St. Louis past Boston.
Gregory Campbell scored with 7 minutes left in the third period to spoil Halak's hopes for a fourth shutout in five games. That ended his shutout streak at 150 minutes, 3 seconds.
But T.J. Oshie and Brad Boyes both beat Tuukka Rask in the shootout. Halak stopped Patrice Bergeron and Michael Ryder, with help from the post both times. The Bruins also had two goals erased by replays in regulation.
Halak and the Blues have won six straight games.
Flyers 2, Islanders 1
UNIONDALE, N.Y. (AP) - Andreas Nodl snapped a tie with 5:25 left for Philadelphia, which stretched its winning streak to six and sent the slumping New York Islanders (4-8-2) to their seventh straight loss.
The Islanders played at home for only the fifth time in 14 games this season.
Mike Richards added a goal and an assist for the Flyers, and Sergei Bobrovsky stopped 31 shots.
Matt Moulson scored the Islanders' lone goal. Dwayne Roloson made 24 saves and earned an assist.
Hurricanes 3, Panthers 2
RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - Eric Staal scored twice and Jeff Skinner had a goal and an assist to lead Carolina over Florida.
Cam Ward made 18 saves for the Hurricanes, who bounced back from a 7-4 loss at Florida on Friday night.
Darcy Hordichuk and Michael Frolik scored for the Panthers, and Scott Clemmensen made 26 saves.
Wild 3, Blue Jackets 2
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Cal Clutterbuck followed a crushing hit with the decisive goal in the third period to give Minnesota a win against Columbus.
Brent Burns scored two power-play goals for the Wild, who won their third in a row, and Mikko Koivu added two assists. Jose Theodore stopped 35 shots.
Rick Nash and Kyle Wilson had Columbus' goals. Mathieu Garon, who had shutouts in the previous two games, lost at home with the Blue Jackets for the first time.
The Blue Jackets (8-4), off to the best start in franchise history, had won seven of nine overall and three straight at home.
Garon, who had won 3-0 in his last two starts, was 8-0-4 in home games with a 1.96 goals-against average and a .930 save percentage in 15 games over two seasons in Columbus. He was also 7-3-1 in his career against Minnesota.
The Wild ended his shutout streak at 142 minutes and 43 seconds when Burns scored 8:49 into the game.
Senators 3, Canadiens 2
MONTREAL (AP) - Alex Kovalev scored twice for his 996th and 997th NHL points and Ottawa extended its winning streak to three by beating Montreal.
Kovalev, who played for Montreal from 2003-09, opened the scoring late in the first. He added his second goal on a power play 6:42 into the third that made it 3-1.
Brian Elliott made 21 saves, and Zack Smith also scored for the Senators, who have won six of eight since a 1-4-1 start. Erik Karlsson and Peter Regin each had two assists.
Brian Gionta scored with 4:07 left in the third to draw the Canadiens within one. Jaroslav Spacek also scored for Montreal, which won 3-2 in Buffalo on Friday. Price made 28 saves.
Sabres 3, Maple Leafs 2, SO
TORONTO (AP) - Tyler Ennis scored the shootout winner for last-place Buffalo against Toronto.
The Sabres rookie put a nice deke on Jean-Sebastien Giguere in the fifth round of the shootout. It was the first win in six games for the Sabres, who came in tied for the fewest points in the NHL.
Toronto squandered a third-period lead and lost in the shootout for the second straight game.
Derek Roy and Jochen Hecht scored in regulation for Buffalo (4-9-2).
Mikhail Grabovski and Nikolai Kulemin had goals for the Maple Leafs (5-5-3).
Avalanche 5, Stars 0
DENVER (AP) - Peter Budaj made 31 saves for his first shutout in nearly a year, Kevin Porter scored two goals, and Colorado beat Dallas.
Philippe Dupuis had a short-handed goal and two assists. Milan Hejduk and Brandon Yip also scored for the Avalanche. Matt Duchene chipped in with two assists.
Dallas came into the game leading the NHL in goals per game (3.58) and had scored six goals in Phoenix on Friday, but Budaj kept the high-scoring Stars off the board. He made 14 saves in the second period and benefited from two hit posts en route to his first shutout since Dec. 7, 2009.
Colorado sent a season-high 45 shots at Dallas' Andrew Raycroft.
Penguins 4, Coyotes 3, SO
GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) - Brent Johnson was steady in replacing Marc-Andre Fleury, and Mark Letestu scored the only goal of a shootout to help Pittsburgh rally to beat Phoenix.
Sidney Crosby had a goal and an assist, and the Penguins also got goals from Evgeni Malkin and Chris Kunitz to come back from an early 2-0 deficit. Crosby and Kris Letang were each stopped by Ilya Bryzgalov in the shootout, but Letestu beat him with a quick wrist shot for the winner.
Wojtek Wolski had his first goal and an assist, and Eric Belanger and Radim Vrbata each had goals for Phoenix. Johnson stopped Vrbata and Wolski in the shootout, and Lauri Korpikoski shot wide on the Coyotes' final attempt.
Kings 4, Predators 1
LOS ANGELES (AP) - Ryan Smyth scored a goal in his 1,000 NHL regular-season game and league-leading Los Angeles beat Nashville for its fourth straight victory.
Jonathan Bernier made 25 saves in his fourth start this season. He lost his shutout bid when Shane O'Brien beat him on Nashville's final shot with 2:24 left.
Anze Kopitar and Dustin Brown each had a goal and an assist, and Willie Mitchell had two assists for the Kings (10-3), who are off to their best start since going 10-1-1 in the 1980-81 season.
Pekka Rinne, who has started every game during Nashville's four-game losing streak, gave up four goals on 22 shots and was replaced by Anders Lindback after Jarret Stoll scored at 10:47 of the second period.
The Predators had won five straight in Los Angeles.
Canucks 6, Red Wings 4
VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) - Alex Edler and Manny Malhotra scored power-play goals 2:44 apart midway through the third period and Vancouver won its sixth straight by topping Detroit.
Daniel Sedin and Mikael Samuelsson also scored, and Roberto Luongo made 24 saves for the Canucks.
Defenseman Niklas Kronwall scored his second goal of the game 1:40 into the third period to put Detroit ahead for the second time. But Jannik Hansen put in a rebound just over two minutes later as Vancouver handed Detroit goalie Jimmy Howard his first regulation loss (6-1-1) this season and his first in 23 games, dating to last season (19-1-3).
Daniel Cleary and Jonathan Ericsson also scored for the Red Wings, who lost for the second time in eight games.
Sharks 5, Lightning 2
SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) - Patrick Marleau ended San Jose's long scoring drought with two first-period goals, and the Sharks snapped a two-game losing streak with a victory over Tampa Bay.
The Sharks, coming off shutout losses at Minnesota and St. Louis, had gone 156 minutes, 59 seconds without scoring before Marleau beat Tampa Bay goalie Mike Smith with a short-handed goal at 12:16. He scored again 3:10 later.
Dany Heatley, John McCarthy and Logan Couture also had goals for San Jose (6-5-1), which played for the first time this season without leading scorer Joe Thornton, who received a two-game suspension from the NHL.
Martin St. Louis and Steven Stamkos scored for Tampa Bay (7-4-2), which lost for the second time in three nights to end its four-game Western road trip.
San Jose's Antero Niittymaki improved to 5-1-1 by stopping 33 shots.
