6 arrested in SW Missouri theft operation

GALENA, Mo. (AP) - A southwest Missouri sheriff's department says it's recovered dump trucks and other stolen items in an apparent theft operation.

Six people had been arrested Friday, and Stone County authorities say more arrests are possible in the month-long investigation.

The sheriff's department says the investigation began Oct. 7 when a property owner reported several items had been stolen. Officers searched a location in Reeds Spring and recovered two dump trucks, a pothole patching machine, a soft drink vending machine and other items.

The Springfield News-Leader reports two subsequent searches turned up more stolen vehicles, methamphetamine, brass knuckles, ammunition and several firearms.
