The Helias Crusaders knew they’d have trouble running outside Wednesday night against the Carthage Tigers. So the plan was to take their chances behind the offense line.
The Crusaders followed that plan to a victory, running for 173 yards and four touchdowns in a 34-13 victory over the Tigers in Class 4 regional action at Adkins Stadium.
With the win, the Crusaders (7-4, ranked No. 8) advance to Monday night’s sectional game against Webb City (11-0, ranked No. 2). Webb City stopped Bolivar 48-13 in its regional Wednesday night.
Game time will be 7 p.m.
Notes: Helias senior receiver Jeremy Braun is likely out for the season after suffering a broken collarbone in the first quarter Wednesday. He leads the team in catches this season with 32. ... Helias is now 8-0 in playoff games at Adkins Stadium over the past two-plus seasons.
