Cardinals add Lilliquist as bullpen coach

ST. LOUIS (AP) - Former pitcher Derek Lilliquist is the new bullpen coach for the St. Louis Cardinals.

The team announced the hiring Tuesday, and announced Mike Aldrete will return as assistant hitting coach. The moves mean the Cardinals now have all major-league coaches in place for 2011.

The Cardinals and manager Tony La Russa reached agreement on a contract last month. Bullpen coach Marty Mason was the only one of La Russa's coaches not retained.

The Cardinals also announced Greg Hauck will be head athletic trainer. Longtime trainer Barry Weinberg will become assistant trainer.

LIlliquist, who is 44, spent the past three seasons as pitching coordinator, working out of the spring training complex in Jupiter, Fla. He pitched for more than five seasons in the major leagues.
