An underground powerline that was struck by a contractor a week ago apparently failed again Tuesday afternoon, as crews were trying to make repairs to it, causing about 1,400 AmerenMissouri customers on Jefferson City’s west end to be without power for about 15 minutes.
Company spokesman Mike Cleary said repair crews were trying re-energize the line when, for some unknown reason, it failed around 3:12 p.m.
Service was restored to the Capital Mall and other Ameren customers around 3:25 p.m., after crews switched the circuits so power was delivered through different circuits.
