Kansas City's Cleaver re-elected in 5th District

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Democratic U.S. Rep. Emanuel Cleaver of Kansas City has defeated Republican challenger Jacob Turk to win another term.

With his victory Tuesday, Cleaver now has defeated Turk in each of the past three elections in the 5th Congressional District.

Cleaver is 66, a pastor in the United Methodist church and a former Kansas City mayor who has a street named in his honor in his hometown. He first won election to Congress in 2004.

Turk is a 54-year-old Marine veteran with a degree in mechanical engineering.
