Bail reduction denied in Mid-Missouri murder case

The man accused of killing his former girlfriend in Maries County was denied a motion to reduce his bond in a hearing in Vienna, Monday.

Terry Fritz, 40, continues to be held in the Maries County Jail on $500,000 bond. He will have his case heard in Texas County after a change of venue request was granted by Judge Mary Sheffield. A hearing will be held in January to set a trial date.

Fritz is charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action for killing his former girlfriend, Kinga Gillibrand, on or around June 8 in rural Meta. Gillibrand's body has never been found despite numerous searches around the area of the home where Fritz and Gillibrand lived.

Authorities hope that perhaps something might turn up while hunters are out during the upcoming deer season. If they do find something, hunters are urged to call the Maries County Sheriff's Department at 573-422-3381.
