Upper level judges on ballot, too

In addition to any local judicial races - such as Cole County voters' decision Tuesday between incumbent Democrat Paul Wilson and Republican challenger Dan Green for the circuit court - every Missouri voter on Tuesday is being asked if state Supreme Court Judge Zel M. Fischer should be retained in office for a full, 12-year term.

In addition, all Missouri voters are being asked to retain at least one appeals court judge for a 12-year term, depending on which appeals court district they live in.

The votes are part of the state's Nonpartisan Court Plan, in operation since 1942, where some of the state's judges are nominated by a panel of lawyers and non-lawyers and appointed by the governor.

More information about Missouri Bar surveys and the judges' ratings can be found on a link on the Bar website's front page: www.mobar.org.
