Crowds honor Missouri soldier killed in Iraq

LAMAR, Mo. (AP) - About 400 people turned up to honor a 24-year-old soldier from southwest Missouri who died in Iraq earlier this month.

The crowds lined several blocks in Lamar on Saturday to honor Pfc. Dylan Reid, who died Oct. 16 in Iraq in a noncombat related incident.

Reid's funeral was also held Saturday in Lamar, where Reid's family lives.

He was assigned to the 3rd Brigade Combat Team, part of Fort Carson's 4th Infantry Division. Reid joined the Army in September 2008 and went to Iraq in March of this year. It was his first deployment.

His decorations included the Army Commendation Medal and the Army Good Conduct Medal.
